Congratulations Aimee

Room 1 students participated in an online intersactive story during Library Week. The beginning of the story was written by Bernard Beckett who is an author of books for children. Each day other participators contributed with the next part and one was chosen. Aimee's part was chosen on the last day. The judge said that Aimee was "able to pull together all the threads of the story and give the book an ending which worked extremely well with the introduction." He siad she should be highly commended as this was a difficult task to do. For her achievement Aimee received a package of goodies including 5 books and a small book lamp. Well done Aimee. The full version of the story can be viewed online at

Roald Dahl Day

Oompa Loompa (Jamie), Mike Teevee (William) Mr Twit (Trent) and Fantastic Mr (Ms) Fox (Aimee) took up the challenge and came in character for our Roald Dahl Day celebrations. A class vote resulted in Mr Twit and the Oompa Loompa claiming the candy prize.

Netball Prize-giving

On Saturday 6th august 2008, the girls who played netball went to the overall teams prize giving. Before the prize giving began, all the teams had a short, 5 minute fun game. When the prizes were given out, Tomarata 4 came second in their grade, and Tomarata 5 tied for the “attitude of the Year” trophy with Wellsford. That trophy will be presented at the Tomarata netball prize giving (held on the 19.09.08). Well done to all the people who participated in a Tomarata team thins year. Two thumbs up.

Long Jump

There once was a girl doing a jump,
She landed with a great big thump,
She got a big bruise,
Because she didn't wear shoes,
She broke her leg,
and ended up in a peg,
So she never did the long jump again.

Last Day Of Clubs

On Tuesday 2nd September we had our last day of clubs. I was in journal making. On Tuesday we finished sticking our pieces of paper into our journal. If you finished your journal you could glue on photos stickers and anything else you want to stick on. Heaps of people had fun in the clubs.

Saturday FUN!

Every Saturday Tomarata has four teams entered in the Rodney Netball Club. We had a great year with our team coming second. Hooray for us. My team won a silver shiny trophy. We were so delighted because we beat the senior team. The other team just below us got the best attidude trophy tied with another school. It's good how well a little school can win two trophies.

Rocking Rainbows End

On the 31st of August Year 7s and 8s from Tomarata school and many other schools went to Rainbows End with Blue Light. The rides there are the pirate ship, fear fall, power surge, cork screw, log flume, gold rush, dodgems, bumper boats, motion master and much more.

Cool Cooking!!

Every Tuesday the year 7s go to the Rodney college to do Manual. We are now doing cooking. Last week we made banana milkshakes and pizza snacks. It's cool because we all get our own kitchens. When we get into our kitchens we have groups of 4 or 3 in each kitchen. Once we are done we have to clean up our kitchens. The teacher comes and checks the kitchens and tells you if you need to clean anything better or if it is good. This isn't the best part but it is still fun because we get to work as a team.

Rainbows End

What a way to spend a Sunday for $10. Year 7&8 students from all sorts of schools from Taupo up visited Rainbows End for a whole day. We started by hopping on a bus at Wellsford School. There were lots of kids from Tomarata and a few from Wellsford. We left at 8:00 am. It was 1 hour drive down to Rainbows End but it was worth it. When we arived we had to get a green paper tag on our wrist saying RAINBOWS END so we could get into the rides. The first things we saw were Rain and Bow. They are Rainbows Ends mascots. It was funny because they were break dancing. Before we could go on any of the rides we had to have a roll check and a time we had to get back to the gate. Then we were free. The first ride I went on was the pirate ship. The pirate ship is a ride that sways back and forth and you go realy high. My favourite rides would have to be the fear fall and the corkscrew. The corkscrew is a roller coaster that goes upside down, up high, around and around and best of all FAST!!!The fear fall is a 18 story pole. What you do is you're put in a seat and strapped in. Then you are lifted up the pole. When you get to the top you can see all of Auckland and before you can scream you're zooming down the pole at 80KM per hour. You're going so fast that your legs stick out and it feels like your head is going to fall off!
