Trip to Waiwera

On Tuesday, 9th December we went to waiwera. It was fun. There were lots of pools like:

  1. The Selby pool

  2. The Seal pool

  3. The movie pool

  4. The opal pool ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' 'The selby pool and the seal pool

  5. The Sapphire pool

  6. The lava pool

  7. and the kids pool

My favorite pool was probably the selby pool because it was big and only warm, it wasn't cold or hot it was just warm. It also had a Shallow side and a deep side but the only bad thing was all these older people that kept pushing each other into the pool. One of them mistook me and pushed me in too.

Then there was the seal pool. The seal pool was just a smaller version of the selby pool but it didn't have a shallow side or a deep side. It was sort of half way. It was about 3 or 4 ○C warmer. It was next to the selby pool.

The movie pool was about 6○C warmer then the seal pool and about 10○C hotter then the 27○C selby pool. It was called the movie pool because there was a HUGE Tv in there. It had Mini waterfalls coming off into a pool above it that had another 2 waterfalls going down into the movie pool.

I dont know much about the opal pool because kids wern't alowed in it. But the sapphire pool was about 40 -45○C! It was undercover as was the movie pool. I didn't go in it much though. And then there was the Lava pool. I probably spent more time in the opal pool then in the lava pool because it was a hot 50○C! (I did go in the opal pool for a while and then I realised it was Adults only. I don't see why, it wasn't that hot.)

The Kids pool was shallow and cold. Like it was Actually cold. It wasn't warmed up or anything. It had a frog waterslide and 2 fountain things that squirted out cold water.

Overall I enjoyed it and would like to go again sometime.

There was about 13 games happening at the same time. The day was enjoyable and i hope they have another cricket sports day next year. Some of the down sides of the day was that it was too hot. golf

On Thursday 27 November we had golf on our field. Rooms 1, 2, 3 and 6 participated in this event. It was a great day learning how to play golf. Our furthurest hit was close to the trees. At first we didnt have a clue on how to use the golf club. Pam was a very good teacher and we learnt alot from her. We hope that Pam will come back next year and that we can do better. We learnt how to hit far distance and short distance.
All together it was a great day and we loved it...

Golf

On Thursday 27th of 2008 the whole school got some new skills in golf. Pam was teaching the new skills. Some people got the balls past the goal post. The balls that we had were
big and small. There were only two golf balls per person and they are really soft and easy to hit. Most people had a lot of fun. I also had a lot of fun too.

Golf

On Thursday we went to golf. It was lots of fun, I thought it was hard. It would be a cool activity to do on the weekend. A lady called pam came and helped out. We learned lots of new skills, for me it was hitting a golf ball and having it actually get airbourne. We didn't actually have golf balls we each hade 2 tennis balls, 2 balls that looked like golf balls but were squishy and one big version of the squishy golf balls. There was one big ball that was green, all the rest were red, yellow and pink. I got the green ball at one point but then Rory stole it off me just because he knew i'd put effort into getting it. Anyway thankyou Pam for coming to our school and teaching us golf

Active Learning Classes

Every Thursday morning, Mrs Williams holds an Active Learning Class. This term we were learning how to write really good stories, both fictional and factual. She helped us put more adjectives and good language features into our stories. She also taught us about repeating, and what repeating is good and when it starts to make the story boring and confusing. We all learnt lots about story writing and we wish to contribute these skills into our stories. Thankyou to Mrs Williams for a very enjoyable learning term.

Tomarata School Golf

On Thursday at school Pam from North Harbour Sports taught us how to play golf. We used a big soft golf ball, two tennis balls and two soft golf balls. We played games like you had to hit the golf balls into a hoop. Another used cones. You got 1 point if you hit it past the first cone, 2 past the next
and if you hit past the last cone you got 3 points. Mr McNaughten hit the tennis ball over the trees at the back of the field.

Great Golf

Terrific Thursday was the day we had golf. We had an excellent time learning a great golf swing. Our instructor Pam had travelled to many places like Singapore, America and Australia. We had a whole lot of games seeing who could hit the furtherest distance out of the boys and girls. Golf was fun and everyone enjoyed it.
